Well it depends on the context. In Standard English, a double negative gives a meaning of a weakened affirmative meaning, i.e.
I did something.
However, sometimes people do use a double negative to put more emphasis on the negative meaning, i.e. I didn't do anything.
It is sometimes used in informal English / non-standard English.
